In 1972 Shri. Govindrao Munghate established a multi-purpose foundation named Dandakaranya Educational, Cultural Development and Research Institute.After researching the cultural and educational awareness of tribals, ashram schools were started for tribal boys and girls in tribal villages like Chandala and Murmadi. Colleges were started in remote talukas like Kurkheda. Institutions such as Open Libraries for Women, Secondary Schools, Primary Schools, Bal Bhavans, Agricultural Guidance Centers etc. have set a different ideal of their own.
Creation of Agricultural Science Center under Central Government’s scheme to develop agriculture of backward tribals and creation of Adivasi Object Museum under Central Government’s Human Resource Development Scheme to preserve tribal culture are the conceptual projects of the institute.
In the last three decades, Dandakarne Institute of Education has gained a reputation. The campus of each educational center is well equipped and developed. In recognition of this, the Government of Maharashtra has honored the organization by awarding it as the best tribal service organization in the year 1994. President Shri. Go. no Munghate received the ideal teacher award of the state government. Not only this, in the year 1998, Dandakaranya Sanstha has been encouraged by the state government as the best institution in the entire state by giving an award of one lakh rupees.
Students, teaching and non-teaching staff and all the members of the executive board of the institution have contributed in this success of the institution.
